DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & IMAGING / WEEK 03

WEEK 03 - 20.04.2023
LECTURE - Intro to Photoshop 2.
During week 3, our primary focus was on acquiring basic skills in Adobe Photoshop. We study the fundamental tools, including the lasso tool, pen tool, and layering, which are essential for manipulating and editing images. Through video tutorials, we were introduced to the functionality of these tools and gained hands-on experience in using them. Additionally, we explored different tool sets available in the Toolbox within Photoshop, expanding our understanding of the software's capabilities.

TUTORIAL - Path, Masking & Layering.
In the tutorial section, Mr. Fauzi provided a demonstration of Adobe Photoshop's blending modes, paths, masking, and live layering techniques. This demonstration aimed to familiarize us with these tools and techniques for creating digital collages. Afterward, we received an introduction to Project 1B, which specifically focuses on digital collage creation. To further support our learning, a video tutorial was also provided, guiding us through the process of creating a digital collage.

PRACTICAL - Compositing Collage.
During the practical session, we conducted a final review of our Project 1A physical collages. Mr. Fauzi assessed our completed physical collages and provided additional feedback to those who were still in the process of finishing their work. Following the review, we proceeded to the next set of exercises. We downloaded a series of images provided by Mr. Fauzi from Google Drive and used them to create three different A4-sized digital collages. Once completed, we saved these three digital compositions and submitted them through Google Classroom for evaluation.

Pre-composition:
In the first composition, I arranged several images with similar colors together and reassembled them into a cohesive composition.

For the second composition, I positioned an image with a copper color image to represent mountains. Placed in front of the mountains is a building, while a couple is gazing at it. Additionally, a train passes by the side of the couple, adding movement and depth to the composition.

In the third composition, I positioned the fish at the center as the main focal point, accompanied by a circular-cropped image placed behind it. Images are placed in the left and right sides as well. To create a sense of connection, I placed a man standing in front of these elements, giving the impression that he is observing and engaging with the fish.
