ILLUSTRATION & VISUAL NARRATIVE / TECHNICAL RECAP

Pen Tool
Mr. Hafiz provided a demonstration on how to effectively utilize the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator. To refine our pen tool skills, we engaged in an exercise called the Bezier game. This exercise enabled us to practice using the pen tool to create and manipulate curves, further enhancing our precision and control over this important tool.

Character Design. Shapes, Shape Builder, Blob Brush, Pathfinder
In order to provide us with guidance for completing Exercise 1, Vormator, we delved into the concept of character design. Ms. Noranis emphasized the significance of creating iconic, simple, and unique characters that would leave a lasting impression on the audience. To aid our understanding, Mr. Hafiz demonstrated a step-by-step process that involved utilizing shape tools, shape builders, and pathfinders in Adobe Illustrator. These tools were essential for accurately tracing the given set of shapes for Project 01.

Color, Gradient, Pattern and Texture
During the project, Mr. Hafiz provided valuable insights and tips on working with colors in Adobe Illustrator. He shared various techniques on how to effectively apply gradients in illustrations, demonstrating step-by-step instructions. Mr. Hafiz also taught us how to use the scale tool in Adobe Illustrator to create a copy of the object at 80% of its original size, and then set the blending mode to multiply. By pressing CTRL+D, we were able to create a pattern that could be applied to our designs.

Type (outlined), Pencil Tool, Shaper Tool, Width Tool
In order to familiarize us with various tools in Adobe Illustrator, Mr. Hafiz conducted several small exercises. These exercises focused on teaching us the effective utilization of tools such as the pencil tool, shape tool, and width tool.

Image Trace, 3D
We were instructed to watch the YouTube video tutorial that provided by Mr. Hafiz and recreate the object demonstrated in the video. This hands-on practice allowed us to familiarize ourselves with the process of applying 3D effects in Adobe Illustrator. Furthermore, we were tasked with applying the 3D effect to a given Illustrator file, putting into practice what we had learned from the tutorial.

Light and Shadow
During the course, Mr. Hafiz provided instructions on how to effectively use the pen tools and curvature tools in Adobe Illustrator to create smooth shapes for our images. Additionally, Mr. Hafiz introduced the knife tools, which enabled us to separate parts of the shapes we had created. This allowed for adding basic light and shadow effects to our objects. By inserting colors into the separated sections, we were able to enhance the visual depth and dimension of our illustrations.
