DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & IMAGING / WEEK 02

WEEK 02 - 13.04.2023
LECTURE - Intro to Composition.
In the second week, Mr. Fauzi introduced us to the fundamentals of basic composition, including the rules of thirds, the golden ratio, and composition framing and cropping. These concepts were taught to assist us in completing our physical collage project.

TUTORIAL - Basic Composition Exercise
Mr. Fauzi has provided us with a video tutorial showcasing the process of creating a physical collage. It is highly recommended to refer to this video tutorial before beginning to work on the collage project.

PRACTICAL - Collage Design Elements.
During the practical section, we were instructed to carefully select and identify specific design elements for our collage. These elements were to be cut out and creatively arranged to convey our own unique concept and story. Following this, we were tasked with creating three separate pre-compositions by combining different design elements. Lastly, captured photographs of each of these compositions and submitted them through Google Classroom for evaluation and review.

Progress:
Since I didn't have any magazines at home, I purchased some magazines and newspapers from Popular. I explored the pages to find pictures that could be connected to create a story. After selecting suitable images, I carefully cut them out and proceeded to explore them with different compositions.

Pre-composition:
My concept and story for these compositions are to convey the notion of the cartoon pig embarking on a journey through the film reel.
In the first composition, I positioned the cartoon pig on the upper section of the film reel, making it the central focal point. Placed in front of the cartoon pig is a butterfly, while a rafflesia flower is positioned behind a bicycle.

In the second composition, I positioned the cartoon pig at the center of the entire paper, making it the primary focal point. Placed behind the cartoon pig is the film reel, while the rafflesia flower is positioned behind the bicycle. Additionally, a butterfly is flying toward the cartoon pig.

For the third composition, the cartoon pig remains positioned at the center of the paper, with the film reel still placed behind it. However, in this particular arrangement, the film reel takes on a different orientation. Additionally, the rafflesia flower is placed beside the front of the bicycle, and the butterfly is soaring upwards.

In the last composition, the cartoon pig remains positioned at the center of the paper, with the film reel still placed behind it. The rafflesia flower is placed beside the front of the bicycle. I added some words at the top of the cartoon pig which related to the story and the butterfly beside it.
