Project 02B - Poster Design.
Nature's Struggle: The Battle for BalanceThis artwork relates to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13, which focuses on climate action. The human activity of Deforestation and land-use changes often driven by the expansion of industrial activities, have significantly diminished the Earth's capacity to effectively absorb and sequester carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere. The conversion of forests or natural habitats into urban areas or agricultural land disrupts the delicate balance of ecosystems and disrupts the natural carbon cycle.
I named my artwork Nature's Struggle: The Battle for Balance to effectively capture the conflict between humans and nature, particularly animals. Through the technique of photo imaging, I merged human faces with industrial elements constructed by humans. To create a visual contrast between the serene and harmonious nature on one side, I depicted the industries in black and white. On the right side, I included pictures representing the four seasons to emphasize the importance of a well-functioning ecosystem and environment. Placing the human and animal faces opposite each other symbolizes their ongoing struggle for their respective rights. The artwork as a whole presents contrasting aspect, with one side conveying peace and enjoyment, while the other side reflects chaos and restlessness. I hope that this artwork is able to inspire people to take proactive steps toward establishing harmonious coexistence among people, animals, and nature.

Reflective Writing. In Project 2, I feel stressed as it was a competition hosted by Maybank. I held a strong desire for my artwork to be chosen by them. I spend time in conducting research on the UNSDG goal I had selected and explored existing work done by others. I sketched out my initial ideas and refined them whenever new suggestions were provided by my family or friends. In addition, I experienced a sense of exhaustion as another module also utilized the same competition as part of their project. Balancing the demands of both projects within the given timeframe proved challenging. However, I managed to successfully complete all the required tasks for both projects, which left me feeling satisfied with the outcomes.
Throughout this project, I acquired valuable skills in creating double-exposure images by utilizing various elements sourced from the internet or my own photographs. However, I found the process of creating double-exposure images to be somewhat challenging for me, as it involved several steps that required careful attention. To overcome this, I frequently referred back to the slides provided by Mr. Fauzi, which outlined the process of creating double exposure. Additionally, I encountered difficulty in finding suitable elements from the internet. For instance, I had the idea of incorporating flowers and butterflies into my work, but I faced challenges in locating images that aligned perfectly with my vision and desired outcome.Furthermore, I observed that I would seek visual references before beginning to work on a project or sketching out my ideas. This allowed me to explore various styles that could potentially be incorporated into my project. Overall, this project provided me with valuable insights and learning experiences, particularly in creating double-exposure images. It also highlighted the importance of thorough research and the challenges when finding specific visual elements online.
