During this week, Mr. Fauzi conducted individual reviews of our progress on the final project. I presented him with my two sketches and described the ideas behind each of them. After carefully evaluating both sketches, Mr. Fauzi provided feedback and suggested that I proceed with the second sketch. He pointed out that the composition in the second sketch was stronger, as it incorporated elements of foreground, middle ground, and background.
Biography About Myself:
My name is Liew Xiao Hui, 20 years old. Currently studying Bachelor of Design in Creative Media.
Initially, after my PT3 exam, I considered pursuing pure sciences in Form 4. However, upon studying biology, I realized it wasn't my passion and struggled with the theories. Thankfully, I discovered a nearby school offering a course that related to design and drawing, leading me to transfer there. After two years and completing my SPM exam, I confirmed that my decision to switch was the right one as it allowed me to pursue my true interest in design. Consequently, I chose to continue studying design in college.
I have a strong passion for both traveling and photography. Whenever I come across captivating scenes, delicious food, or breathtaking skies, I frequently reach for my phone or camera to capture those moments. The process of taking photographs brings me immense joy, and later on, when I revisit those pictures, they transport me back to the memories I created. I find great fascination in traditional buildings, especially those that carry their own historical elements, such as the unique architecture found in Korea.
I love exploring and capturing beauty, using my phone and camera to document the world around me. Additionally, I enjoy the process of creating something new, embracing my creativity to express myself in various ways.
Statement About My Work:
Since this project is self-titled, I have been considering the main theme and how to connect it with my passions. To gather ideas and inspiration, I have been exploring Pinterest and references that provided.
Based on my previous biography, where I expressed my passion for exploring and documenting beauty through photography, I have developed an initial concept for my project which simulate the act of viewing my captured photographs. The backdrop will be composed of the actual scenes or memories from those photographs, connecting the idea that photographs have the power to transport me back to the memories I created.
For my second idea, I have chosen to simulate the interactive experience of selecting a country from a globe. When a country is chosen, a captivating scene or iconic building from that specific country will appear in the background. Lastly, photographs fall from the top.
All in all, I have made the choice to design a poster that combines my two passions photography and traveling.
